John Carter: This movie got a lot of flack. I have to admit the trailers for it made it look extremely cheesy and the original title ‘John Carter of Mars’ didn’t do much to add to its credibility. However, after watching it this past weekend, I have to say it has a mich stronger storyline than the title or trailers convey. Part mythologu, part western, part action, part romantic, it captures the hero formula well. That is if you can make it through the title and premise. Rating: 8/10
Our Idiot Brother. Good casting with an okay story line. Nice for a night at home but no worries if you miss it. Rating: 6/10
The 3rd installment in this series may have come a bit late in the game. With so many great sci-fi and FX laden movies in the years between the first Men in Black and this one, MIB III is good but doesn’t have a real ‘wow’ factor. An okay watch though the real highlight is Josh Brolin doing an amazing job playing the young Agent K and in turn playing a young Tommy Lee Jones. Fantastic acting by Brolin which does a lot for the movie. Rating: 6.5/10
#trailers #movies #what2see The trailer for the new James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ is now out.
@reviews #movies #what2watch Went to the theatre to catch ‘What to expect when you are expecting’. So so movie, a bit slow in editing style, okay characters but nothing much to recommend. Feels like another ‘Love Actually’ attempt with multiple couple characters with a central theme of dealing with pregnancy. Rating: 5.5/10
Something Borrowed great book and an okay movie. Rating: 7/10
Safety Not Guaranted trailer. Intriguing premise.
This Means War: Fun date movie. Nothing much to write about. 6.5/10
Caught the German film ‘The Wave’ over the weekend. Low expectations going in but big pay off in the gripping story of a high school experiment in fascism. 7.5/10
